Four faculty members have been named for º£½ÇÉçÇø. The SEC ALDP seeks to identify, prepare and advance academic leaders for
roles within SEC institutions and beyond. Since its creation in 2008, more than 300
faculty and academic administrators have completed the SEC ALDP, and program alumni
have become deans and provosts, among other senior-level positions, at universities
around the SEC and country.
The 2024-2025 fellows are:

º£½ÇÉçÇø has named Keena Arbuthnot, Vice President and Chief Data Officer, as Dean of the
Pinkie Gordon Lane Graduate School, effective July 11. In this role, Arbuthnot will
oversee more than 160 graduate degree programs, including doctoral programs in over
50 major fields of study, as Dean of the most extensive and comprehensive provider
of graduate education in the state of Louisiana.

Academic Affairs Launches External Awards & Recognition Program
The º£½ÇÉçÇø Office of Academic Affairs has launched a new External Awards and Recognition
program to be directed by Dr. Laura Choate. The program will provide º£½ÇÉçÇø faculty and
academic leadership with centralized strategic support to identify, apply for, and
attain prestigious external awards. ÌýIn addition, the program will highlight and showcase
current recipients of prestigious awards, as identified by the National Research Council,
to increase awareness both internally and externally.

Invitation to Teach Honors Courses in Spring 2025
The Ogden Honors College is accepting proposals for spring 2025 courses now through
September 6, 2024.Ìý
Faculty from all senior colleges are invited to submit a proposal for a special topics
course based on their research. ÌýFaculty members are also encouraged to consider team-teaching
for our HNRS foundational courses:
- HNRS 2000 Critical Analysis (with an interdisciplinary focus on the state of Louisiana)
- HNRS 2009 Physical Science for Citizens or HNRS 2010 Life Science for Citizens (scientific
literacy, application, and ethical considerations)
- HNRS 2100 Great Conversations (great books in literary, historical, political and
social contexts)

Summer Leadership Institute
Each year, the º£½ÇÉçÇø Office of Academic Affairs hosts its annual Summer Leadership Institute (SLI). Faculty members that hold administrative positions (e.g. Associate Dean, Department
Chair/Director) are invited to attend. The goal of the institute is to provide useful
information, such as policy or procedural updates, in preparation for the upcoming
academic year. In addition, the Executive Vice President & Provost provides an update
on current university initiatives and priorities.

Reserve a Table for Undergraduate Research Fair
The undergraduate research office is accepting reservations from faculty and researchers
who would like to host a table at the annual held during Welcome Week. This event is an excellent opportunity to promote research
opportunities in your area to the incoming freshmen class. This year’s info fair will
take place on Thursday, August 22nd, from 1:00 – 3:00 p.m. in the Student Union ballroom.

Fulbright Scholars Application Due September 16
Faculty are encouraged to apply for the Fulbright Scholars Program, which enables
faculty to advance global exchange through research, teaching and professional projects.
º£½ÇÉçÇø has a team of Fulbright Scholar Liaisons who can help you find the program that
is right for you. º£½ÇÉçÇø has had 18 previous successful Fulbright Scholars. .
Power-based Violence Prevention & Response Training due September 30
A reminder to complete the annual Power-based Violence & Response Training. All classified,
unclassified, and other academic employees, faculty members, contingent/transient
workers, and graduate and teaching assistants are required to take this training.

Facilitating Learning Online (July 29 - August 18)
Developed and facilitated by º£½ÇÉçÇø Online & Continuing Education, this instructor-led
four-week course is designed for anyone who is new to teaching online or is interested
in learning more about facilitating an online course. Participants will explore best
practices in making connections with students, creating a community of learning, and
