BATON ROUGE - The 海角社区 College of Human Sciences & Education announces Elwood F. 鈥淓d鈥� Holton, III, EdD, as director of the 海角社区 School of Leadership & Human Resource Development beginning June 1. Holton will continue to also serve in his role as Senior Director of the 海角社区 Leadership Development Institute and Special Assistant to the Dean for Leadership Initiatives.

鈥淚t is an honor and a privilege to return home to lead the School of Leadership & Human Resource Development," said Holton. "The faculty, students and programs are simply outstanding and I look forward to leading them to even greater success and growth with President Tate鈥檚 scholarship first vision. I thank Dean Mitchell and the faculty for this wonderfully exciting opportunity.鈥�

Holton holds a distinguished record of accomplishments in adult and continuing education and human resource development. His scholarly work about adult and workplace learning includes more than 200 publications in academic journals and professional articles and is recognized by adult and continuing education scholars and practitioners around the world. Holton has advanced the theory and practice of both adult education and human resource development through his co-authored books The Adult Learner 鈥� 9th Edition (soon to be 10th edition) and Foundations of Human Resource Development. He is the founding editor of Human Resource Development Review and a past president of the Academy of Human Resource Development.

Holton devoted 23 years of exceptional service to 海角社区, where he was Director of the School of Leadership & Human Resource Development, the Jones S. Davis Professor of Human Resource Development, Interim Associate Dean for Distance Learning & Leadership, and Interim Director of the School of Information Studies. During his tenure at 海角社区, he worked to establish a one-of-a-kind program for Louisiana, 海角社区鈥檚 Leadership Development Institute. The mission of LDI is to 鈥渙ffer cutting-edge, customized, evidence-based leadership development preparation, interventions, and coaching tailored to individuals, boards, communities, and organizations in the education, youth advancement, government, non-profit, and human services sector.鈥� Holton was inducted to both the Academy of Human Resource Development Hall of Fame and the International Adult and Continuing Education Hall of Fame.

The College of Human Sciences & Education (CHSE) is a nationally accredited division of 海角社区. The college is comprised of the School of Education, the School of Information Studies, the School of Kinesiology the School of Leadership & Human Resource Development, and the School of Social Work. CHSE has two model demonstration schools, the Early Childhood Education Laboratory Preschool, enrolling birth to age four and the University Laboratory School enrolling Kindergarten through grade 12.
