Special Education Graduate Students Publish a Practitioner Journal Article

March 10, 2025

BATON ROUGE, LA 鈥 Three recent graduates of the General and Special Education program, Collin Crousillac, Aijah Lathan and Megan McGinnis, published a practitioner journal article in the winter 2025 issue of Texas Elementary Principals and Supervisors Association (). Collin Crousillac, Aijah Lathan and Megan McGinnis

The article entitled 鈥淢anaging Elementary School Classrooms Effectively with Class-Wide Function-Related Intervention Teams鈥 details the steps for implementation for a classroom management strategy, Class-Wide Function-Related Intervention Teams (CW-FIT). The goal was for the students to gain experience in disseminating practitioner-focused information to a professional audience.

All three students graduated from the Lutrill & Pearl Payne School of Education in the 海角社区 College of Human Sciences & Education in May 2024 with dual certification in general and special elementary education and subsequently enrolled in the graduate degree program to earn a Master of Education with a specialization in special education. They are currently employed in a local school system as full-time classroom teachers. By researching and writing about professional practice, these graduate students are 鈥減aying it forward鈥 by sharing the practices they are learning with a broader audience of practitioners.
