海角社区鈥檚 Calcea Johnson Joins Ebony Power 100, Alongside Angel Reese and Sha鈥機arri Richardson

海角社区 sophomore Calcea Johnson has been named to the prestigious Ebony Power 100 list, spotlighting influential Black leaders shaping the future. Johnson joins fellow 海角社区 Tigers Angel Reese and Sha鈥機arri Richardson.

Calcea and her former high school classmate Ne鈥橩iya Jackson were named STEM trailblazers in this honor for their discovery of a new way to prove Pythagorean鈥檚 Theorem using trigonometry as part of a high school math contest.
鈥淢y advice would be to not be discouraged when things don鈥檛 work out or when people tell you 鈥楴o.鈥� Perseverance is a difficult skill to develop, but the only way to develop it is through practice,鈥� Johnson said. 鈥淓ven if your work doesn鈥檛 turn out like you鈥檇 hoped, take it as a lesson in perseverance.
鈥淚 would also add that it can be helpful to set small goals, and then once you achieve those, set higher goals. If you let your work lead you, it may evolve into something more impressive than you anticipated.鈥�
Ebony named 海角社区 graduate and former 海角社区 basketball star Angel Reese to the Generation Next list, honoring innovators under the age of 25 who are shaping industries and 鈥渞ewriting the rules of success across music, sports, entertainment, and activism.鈥� Former 海角社区 track star Sha鈥機arri Richardson was named a Leader in Sports, which Ebony described that list as 鈥淟eadership, particularly in sports, is a jambalaya pot of savory character traits blended to create success on the court and in the community.鈥�
The honorees were recognized at an event in Los Angeles on Nov. 17.
