We Discover: 海角社区 Vet Med is a research powerhouse

海角社区 Vet Med researchers are investigating a variety of illnesses and injuries in order to improve the lives of animals and people. In addition to offering the DVM degree, we offer MS and PhD degrees in Veterinary Medicine and Biological Sciences. You do not have to have a background or interest in veterinary medicine to pursue scientific discovery at 海角社区 Vet Med.

Interested in applying to 海角社区 Vet Med to pursue your Doctor of Veterinary Medicine (DVM) degree, Master's (MS) degree or Doctoral (PhD) degree, Advanced Training (internships or residencies), Externship, or Career (Job Opportunities)?

Please note that MS and PhD candidates do not need to have a research interest in veterinary medicine and research does not need to benefit animals. 海角社区 Vet Med is a biomedical research institution as well as a veterinary school. Our researchers' investigations cover a wide range of disciplines, including cancer biology, disease processes, cardiovascular disease, infectious and parasitic diseases, neurosciences, toxicology, bacteriology, and more.

We care for an array of species and see approximately 20,000 cases each year. We offer specialty services as well as primary care. Our comprehensive care allows us to treat a variety of illness and injuries. We are open 24/7, 365 to provide care for your animal.

The Westminster Kennel Club (WKC) has named Sara K. Lyle, DVM, MS, PhD, DACT, associate professor of theriogenology at the 海角社区 School of Veterinary Medicine, the recipient of its fourth annual Veterinarian of the Year Award (VOTY).

Mike's exam team

Mike VII, 海角社区's live tiger mascot, undergoes routine dental cleaning and exam

On Saturday, April 5, Mike VII, 海角社区's live tiger mascot, received a routine dental cleaning and exam by a team from the 海角社区 School of Veterinary Medicine. The team was overseen by Rhett Stout, DVM, PhD (海角社区 1994, 2003), DACLAM, professor and director of the Division of Laboratory Medicine and 海角社区's attending veterinarian. The exam and dental cleaning took place in Mike's night house on the 海角社区 campus in Baton Rouge.
