Heidelberg Named 海角社区 Department of Public Administration Chair

海角社区鈥檚 E. J. Ourso College of Business named Roy Heidelberg the new Department of Public Administration chair, effective July 1, 2021. Heidelberg has served as interim department chair since July 2020 when previous chair, Jared Llorens, took over as interim dean of the college.
鈥淲e are truly excited that Roy Heidelberg has agreed to serve as chair of the Department of Public Administration. The department鈥檚 MPA program has a stellar history of educating public service leaders and I look forward to working with Roy as the program continues to grow and improve,鈥 said Jared Llorens, dean of the E. J. Ourso College of Business.
鈥淚 am very excited for and humbled by the opportunity to serve this distinguished program,鈥 added Heidelberg.
Before assuming the interim chair position, Heidelberg served as an associate professor in the Department of Public Administration and has taught in the department since 2012. He also holds the John W. Dupuy Professorship.
Heidelberg鈥檚 teaching interests include public policy, decision making, and modeling. During the upcoming fall 2021 semester, he will teach PADM 7900 MPA Capstone, PADM 7910 Public Administration Theory and Practice, PADM 7852 MPA Practicum, and he will oversee PADM 7800 Independent Study in Public Administration.
His research focuses on accountability, economic development, social theory, and policy. Heidelberg's writing was published in journals such as Public Administration Review, American Review of Public Administration, Administrative Theory and Praxis, and Administration & Society. He is also the series editor of the new book series Uncommon Views from 海角社区 Press, which began in fall 2020.
A native of Covington, LA, Heidelberg received his PhD in Public Policy and Management from The Ohio State University in 2013, his Master of Public Administration from 海角社区 in 2007, and his Bachelor of Arts in Liberal Arts, Humanities and Social Thought from the Louisiana Scholars College at Northwestern State University in 2005.
