GRADUATE STUDENTS EXCHANGE
海角社区-UNIVERSIT脡 DES ANTILLES 2016-2017
In November 2016 the first graduate students (4 from 海角社区, 5 from Universit茅 des Antilles) engaged in a week of archival research on the topic of "Slavery in the Caribbean Basin" at and reconvened in April 2017 to continue their research at the Archives territoriales de la Martinique and at the Memorial ACTe (Guadeloupe). This exchange was made possible by a grant from the Partner University Fund (cultural services of the French embassy in New York), the FACE Foundation (French American Cultural Exchange, New York) and the Andrew W. Mellon Foundation.

Elodie Cocote
Elodie Cocote est doctorante en traductologie 脿 l鈥檜niversit茅 des Antilles sous la direction du Pr Corinne Menc茅-Caster. Dans son travail de th猫se qui s鈥檌ntitule 芦 Cr茅ation d鈥檜n lexique bilingue espagnol-cubain/fran莽ais r茅gional des Antilles 禄, les dimensions 茅pist茅mologique et m茅thodologique constituent une part importante de cette recherche, dont la finalit茅 pratique ne doit pas 锚tre n茅glig茅e, 脿 savoir le lexique bilingue. Il a pour objectif d鈥櫭猼re un outil pour les traducteurs qui s鈥檈ngageraient dans une traduction interculturelle d鈥櫯搖vres cubaines et martiniquaises. L鈥檕bjectif majeur de ses travaux de recherche c鈥檈st de promouvoir la traduction interculturelle des 艙uvres carib茅ennes en offrant des outils pratiques au traducteur, afin de permettre une plus grande visibilit茅 de ces litt茅ratures.

Clara Dauler
Clara Dauler est professeure certifi茅e d鈥檈spagnol depuis 2005. Elle a entam茅 sa carri猫re dans l鈥檈nseignement secondaire en Martinique, avant d'锚tre recrut茅e sur le campus universitaire de Schoelcher en tant qu鈥橝TER (attach茅 temporaire d鈥檈nseignement et de recherche) 脿 l鈥橧UT o霉 elle exerce pendant quatre ans.
Aujourd'hui, elle occupe un poste de PRCE (Professeur Certifi茅) au d茅partement d鈥檈spagnol de la Facult茅 des Lettres. Elle est 茅galement doctorante affili茅e au laboratoire du CRILLASH (Centre de Recherches Interdisciplinaires en Lettres Langues et Arts et Sciences Humaines) 脿 l鈥橴niversit茅 des Antilles.
Elle m猫ne une th猫se sur les enjeux identitaires du roman historique entre 芦 hispanit茅 禄 et 芦 carib茅anit茅 禄. Elle a pr茅sent茅 l鈥檃vanc茅e de ses travaux dans deux communications qui sont en cours de publication : 芦 Ecrire l鈥檋istoire depuis la marge : le cas de La catedral del mar d鈥橧delfonso Falcones 禄 et 芦 Entre Hispanit茅 et Carib茅anit茅 : les enjeux identitaires du roman historique 禄.

Adeline Giboyau
Adeline Giboyau is a second year M.A. student in History from Trinit茅, Martinique and received her bachelors in History from the Universit茅 des Antilles in Guadeloupe. Her interests include colonial Francophone culture especially the study of the parish of Ducos (formerly known as Trou-au-Chat) in Martinique, at the end of the eighteenth century.

Ethel Petit
Apr猫s avoir effectu茅 des 茅tudes de musique option musicologie 脿 l鈥橧nstitut sup茅rieur de la Havane, elle a enseign茅 la musique durant une dizaine d鈥檃nn茅es dans divers 茅tablissements de la Martinique. Poursuivant un Doctorat en Cultures et langues r茅gionales, son sujet porte sur la musique de salon dans la Cara茂be. Elle vient de participer 脿 la 19猫me Conf茅rence Islands in between qui s鈥檈st tenue au Cave Hill Campus de l鈥橴niversit茅 des West indies 脿 la Barbade du 02 au 05 novembre 2016. Elle est actuellement Charg茅e de cours 脿 l鈥橴niversit茅 des Antilles.

Ga毛lle Nubul
Ga毛lle vient de la Martinique. Elle est titulaire d鈥檜ne Licence en Lettres, Langues et Civilisations 茅trang猫res, sp茅cialit茅 anglais (Paris XII) et d鈥檜n Master en Etudes anglophones (Universit茅 des Antilles). Elle r茅dige actuellement une th猫se de doctorat sur les artistes jama茂caines de dancehall. Ses principaux sujets d鈥檌nt茅r锚ts sont les cultures urbaines, les cultures populaires et les industries cr茅atives de la Cara茂be.

Mallory Fuller
Mallory Fuller is a Louisiana native who earned her B.A. in French Studies from Vanderbilt University in 2013. She spent two years in Aix-en-Provence, France, as an ambassador to the Vanderbilt-in-France program and as an intern at the literary foundation Fondation St. John Perse. Her interests are varied but primarily include the Viking incursion of Normandy and the literature of the Perverse.

Sylvestre Douanla
Sylvestre Mekem Douanla holds a BA and MA from the University of Yaound茅 (Cameroon) in Francophone literature. He completed another MA (Teaching French as a Foreign Language) at University of Cape Town (South Africa) in 2011. After designing a syllabus that has been implemented at UCT, he taught at Alliance Fran莽aise of Johannesburg. His research interests are French and Francophone literature, postcolonial and migration studies.

Jeanne J茅gousso
Jeanne J茅gousso received her BA from Franc抬ois Rabelais University in Tours, France with a dual major in French Literature and Teaching French as a Second Language and a minor in Visual Arts and Theater. She completed her MA in French (Caribbean Literature) at 海角社区 in 2014.
Jeanne created the program 海角社区 in Guadeloupe in 2015 and she is the founder of the 海角社区 French Club. She is currently a Graduate Assistant for the Center for French and Francophone Studies at 海角社区 for which she performs the duties of public relations specialist and event coordinator.

Emily O'Dell
Emily O'Dell received her BA in French from University of California, Santa Barbara and her MA in French Studies from 海角社区. She is currently a PhD student in the Department of Comparative Literature at 海角社区 and her dissertation focuses on representations of children and childhood in 20th and 21st century fiction from the French, Spanish, and English speaking Caribbean islands and their diasporas. She is also a Graduate Assistant to the Center for French and Francophone Studies at 海角社区 fo which she performs the roles of webmaster and editor.
