Kinesiology Students, Jackson and Wishman, Receive Scholarships from National Association of Athletic Trainers Foundation

Meghan Reid Jackson, a doctoral student in the School of Kinesiology (SOK) athletic training program, and Olivia Wishman, a 2016 graduate of the undergraduate athletic training program, received scholarships from the National Association of Athletic Trainers (NATA) Foundation.
Reid Jackson, a native of St. Louis, Missouri, was awarded the Bobby Barton Scholarship in honor of Dr. Bobby Barton, an athletic trainer widely recognized as a pioneer and leader in the sport medicine field. The scholarship award of $2,300 is awarded to a qualified entry-level athletic training student.
Upon completion of her PhD in kinesiology this summer, Reid Jackson will begin teaching at SOK as a full-time professor.
鈥淚 am looking forward to continuing to contribute to the School of Kinesiololgy and continuing to work in my passion,鈥� she said. 鈥淩eceiving this scholarship was an amazing honor. Just to be associated with Bobby Barton鈥檚 name and those who have received this award before me is an honor. I am proud to represent 海角社区 and 海角社区 Athletic Training.鈥�
Wishman, a Buffalo, New York native, received the Katie Burke Memorial Scholarship, an award honoring exceptional undergraduate students in kinesiology.
Wishman interned for the Buffalo Bills and as an athletic trainer for the 海角社区 men鈥檚 and women鈥檚 swimming and diving teams. She is the recipient of the 2015 Dr. Martin J. Broussard Athletic Training Student of the Year award and the 2015 Professional Football Athletic Trainers鈥� Society undergraduate scholarship. Wishman is also holds three certifications: American Heart Association BLS and First Aid, Graston Certificate, and 海角社区鈥檚 Distinguished Communicator certification.
Wishman is now an athletic training graduate assistant at the University of Pittsburgh, pursuing a master鈥檚 degree in kinesiology.
