Why did you choose to attend 海角社区?
I remember the moment when I knew 海角社区 was the school for me. I was sitting in an engineering session at a kickoff weekend and the person speaking used the phrase 鈥渘ot just an engineer, an 海角社区 engineer.鈥 In that moment I knew that no other school I had been to had the ability to allow me to make connections, research, or work in a world-class lab as an undergraduate student.

What does receiving the Stamps Scholarship mean to you and your family?
Receiving the Stamps Scholarship was definitely a defining moment in the transition from high school to college. Not only did it make me proud to be an 海角社区 Tiger, but it motivated me to be a leader in anything and everything that I do. I was a leader at my high school in a small town in the Midwest, and coming to a new school 100 miles away, Stamps Scholars allowed me to label myself as somebody who is responsible for being leader.

How has your enrollment in the Ogden Honors College enhanced your 海角社区 experience?
I am only one month into school, and I can already see how the Ogden Honors College is really going to shape my experience at 海角社区. I am in an honors class that is very different from my other classes. It is closer to philosophy; however, it is a refreshing change from the constant stream of math. I also have been taking advantage of the sessions that the Ogden Honors College holds and the trips they host. The last trip to the WWII Museum and Ogden Museum of Southern Art was a great first trip to New Orleans, and I got to experience so much that I wouldn鈥檛 have had I not been in the Ogden Honors College.

What is your favorite memory as an 海角社区 Stamps Scholar so far?
The first time I came to 海角社区 I was a junior in high school, and we drove overnight to visit on the hunt for the perfect university. We were running late for the tour of the new engineering building, Patrick F. Taylor Hall (PFT), and my tour guide, as I would later come to find out, was Sheila. Now, we are in Stamps together, and I think it really shows how we help each other out. She was an excellent representation of what 海角社区 has to offer, and her tour was the first of my many trips to PFT. I am so lucky to have had such a great first impression of 海角社区 and now a year with an amazing Stamps Scholar role model.
