Waltrich鈥檚 Research Highlighted in Journal of Petroleum Technology
June 9, 2021
BATON ROUGE, LA 鈥 海角社区 Associate Professor of Petroleum Engineering Paulo Waltrich鈥檚
research was recently featured in the cover article of the May 2021 issue of the Journal
of Petroleum Technology, one of the most prestigious magazines covering the oil and
gas industry.
The article, 鈥淣ow is the Time For Gas Lift Technology to Live Up to Its Potential,鈥 discusses Waltrich鈥檚 research and testing of the method known as liquid-assisted gas lift, which is based on the idea that by starting with water injection before gas injection, it is possible to sweep out fluids more efficiently than by using gas alone.
It鈥檚 a technology that Waltrich and his graduates鈥攁long with lab personnel at 海角社区鈥檚 Petroleum Engineering Research, Testing, & Training Lab (PERTT)鈥攈ave been working on for the last 10 years. The work began with a research project sponsored by Shell and has evolved into a company called Lift Well International, of which Waltrich is the chief technology officer. Lift Well is currently commercializing the liquid-assisted gas lift, or LAGL, technology.
