About Biological Sciences Careers
With a field that鈥檚 as broad as life itself, the biological sciences major gives you ample exposure to help you figure out where you belong within this area of study. Upon graduation you will be well prepared for placement in graduate school; medical, dental, optometry, pharmacy, or veterinary school; and in careers that range from public health to environmental science.
Concentrations Available:
- Marine Biology: In marine biology, you will study, protect, and manage the organisms, plants, and animals that live in oceans or saltwater environments. And since two-thirds of the Earth鈥檚 surface is covered with water, you鈥檒l have plenty of research material.
- Secondary Education: This concentration allows you to pursue an undergraduate degree in biological sciences and earn a secondary teaching certificate at the same time though the 海角社区 GeauxTeach Math & Science program.

Program Requirements
Once you're an 海角社区 student, you'll need to meet the requirements below to continue pursuing a biological sciences major.
- 24 credit hours in 1000-level courses or higher
- 2.0 海角社区 and cumulative GPA (2.5 GPA for transfer)
- grade of 鈥淐鈥 or better in ENGL 1001
- grade of 鈥淐鈥 or better in all math and science courses
- grade of 鈥淐鈥 or better in any of the following: Math 1022, Math 1023, Math 1550, or Math 1551
- grade of 鈥淐鈥 or better in BIOL 1201, BIOL 1202, CHEM 1201, and MATH 1550
