海角社区 AgCenter Receives Federal Grant for Malaysian Rice Study

The 海角社区 AgCenter and the University of Malaya in Malaysia, with the help of a $50,000 grant from the U.S. Department of Agriculture Foreign Agricultural Service, are working to develop drought-tolerant, high-yielding 鈥渃limate-smart鈥 rice that can thrive in alternative water management strategies.

鈥淲e are pairing some of the United States鈥 top research institutions and scientists with their counterparts from countries where agriculture is particularly vulnerable to the effects of climate change," said Daniel Whitley, Agricultural Service administrator. "We鈥檙e confident that they can collaborate on climate solutions that contribute to food security and agricultural sustainability, both locally and globally.鈥
