海角社区 ME Professor Menon Receives NSF CAREER Award

海角社区 Mechanical Engineering Assistant Professor Shyam Menon was recently awarded an
NSF CAREER Award for his work on understanding how solid particles in gas flows interact
with material surfaces. A better understanding of this could impact safety and standards
for components commonly used in aerospace and power generation.
鈥淚t鈥檚 hard to fix a problem unless we understand the key factors which influence the severity with which the problem impacts an engineering system,鈥� Menon said. 鈥淭he results from [our] studies can have a significant impact on choices made by engineers regarding design of components and the materials with which they are constructed."
Rao's project is part of 海角社区's effort to translate existing resources and expertise into new opportunities and jobs to power Louisiana and protect the vitality of Louisiana鈥檚 energy industry.
