海角社区 Vet Med brings second artist-in-residence to Baton Rouge for an innovative program involving 海角社区鈥檚 A Cappella Choir

The 海角社区 School of Veterinary Medicine is thrilled to continue its Artist-in-Residence Program featuring musician-composer Charlie Rauh of

New York City. He is the second artist-in-residence; the first was a visual artist, Shelby Prindaville of Sioux City, Iowa.

Charlie's residency runs Aug. 15-Sept. 15, 2023. It culminates in a concert featuring music he will compose while in residence.

Concert Details

  • Performers: Charlie Rauh, guitar, and members of the 海角社区 A Cappella Choir, directed by Dr. Alissa Rowe.
  • Remarks by Oliver Garden, Dean, 海角社区 School of Veterinary Medicine, Eric Lau, Dean, 海角社区 College of Music and Dramatic Arts, Charlie Rauh, Artist-in-Residence, musician-composer, and Alissa Rowe, Associate Professor & Galante Director of Choral Studies.

While in residence, Charlie will compose and record a minimum of six songs available for 海角社区 School of Veterinary Medicine鈥檚 use and released by Destiny Records. Songs will be inspired by Charlie's experience in residence at 海角社区 Vet Med including within the Veterinary Teaching Hospital and Stephenson Pet Clinic.

Charlie will interact with the 海角社区 Vet Med community and draw creative inspiration from encounters that make up the day-to-day work of 海角社区 Vet Med. These experiences will influence the music he writes. He will collaborate with members of the 海角社区 A Capella Choir on musical compositions and performances.

"We are very excited to join forces with our colleagues in the College of Music and Dramatic Arts to showcase facets of 海角社区 Vet Med's missions to teach, heal, discover, and protect for the greater Baton Rouge community. All are welcome to our free concert, and we especially look forward to seeing our wonderful clients, our referring veterinarians, and their clients, as well," said Sarr, who manages the Artist-in-Residence Program.
