Collaborations

Academic programs interested in providing field experiences for their college courses should contact the center director. Experiences can be one-time experiences (e.g., planning and planting an herb garden),  regularly occurring experiences across the semester (e.g., weekly motor development clinic) or annual events (e.g., language and hearing screenings).


海角社区 Academic Units

海角社区 School of Social Work - Child and Family Studies 

Undergraduate students complete observation hours during child development coursework. Undergraduate students also complete internship hours that may include administrative or classroom experience. 

海角社区 Nutrition and Food Sciences

The nutrition department reviews the program鈥檚 menus and conducts cooking activities with children.

海角社区 Financial Aid Department

The financial aid program works with the financial aid department to recruit and obtain students who are interested in working with children as part of their work study assignment.

海角社区 Speech and Hearing Clinic

The speech and hearing clinic conducts language and hearing screenings of children enrolled. The clinic is a referral source for children or families with speech and hearing needs.

海角社区 Biological Sciences

Each month, faculty members and PhD candidates from Biological Sciences bring their research to students at the ECELP to share the importance of what they do and how their studies effect the world in which we live. In these interactive sessions, students are encouraged to explore, ask questions and get hands-on with the research being presented to them.

海角社区 Museum of Natural Science

The Museum of Natural Science at 海角社区 brings specimens from their collection for the children to observe. Each time, the Museum of Natural Science brings a different category of mammal, insect, reptile, amphibian and even dinosaur for the children to explore. 

Community Collaborations

Volunteers of America

Volunteers of America provides support for to teachers and staff through training and on-site technical assistance. Students enrolled in Ancillary Certificate Program complete observation hours at the preschool.

East Baton Rouge Parish Early Childhood Network

East Baton Rouge Parish Early Childhood Network provides training and support to teachers in order to improve outcomes for children and families. The network utilizes 海角社区 ECELP as a training site for observers and administrators at 海角社区 ECELP currently serve on the network's governing board. 

Baton Rouge Community College

Students enrolled in the Associate Degree program in Care & Development of Young Children complete observations and field experience hours at the preschool. 

Southern University

Undergraduate students of the Child Development Program complete observation and field experience hours at the preschool.

Knock Knock Children鈥檚 Museum

海角社区 ECELP faculty and staff serve as committee members and volunteers for the museum.

East Baton Rouge Parish Library

East Baton Rouge Parish Library鈥檚 Book Mobile visits children and provides story time activities and books for teachers and children to check-out.
