Work Study
Work study is a financial aid award that allows students to earn money through an on-campus job. The award is only realized if a student obtains a qualifying job and works each week to earn a bi-weekly paycheck.
海角社区 offers 2 types of work study awards: Federal College Work Study Program & President鈥檚 Student Aid.
To check if you have Federal Work Study or President鈥檚 Study Aid:
- Login to your My海角社区 account.
- Under Financial Services select Financial Aid then Financial Aid & Scholarships.
- You will see your Financial Aid Package listed including any awards or grants. If offered, Federal Work Study and President鈥檚 Study Aid will be listed. You will need to accept the award in your Financial Aid Portal.
- The amount listed is the amount of funds that could be earned by obtaining a job on-campus.
Federal Work-Study
The Federal Work-Study Program allows students who show financial need to earn money to assist with their educational expenses.
Work-Study is usually $3,000 for fall/spring or $3,600 for summer/fall/spring but it can vary according to your need-based eligibility. This is determined through the FAFSA and whatever aid you may already have (grants, scholarships, etc.)
Applying for and Receiving Federal Work Study
- Submit the FAFSA Annually: Students interested in Work Study should file the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) as soon after October 1 as possible each year, because this program has limited funding.
- Accept the Funding Offer: If you are selected to receive Work Study, you will need to officially accept your funding offer in my海角社区, before applying for employment opportunities to begin receiving the funding.
- Apply for Employment Opportunities: After accepting your Work Study offer in my海角社区 you can apply to either on-campus employment or community service work site opportunities through Handshake. Students will go through a traditional application process to secure employment in order to earn the wages from their Work Study funding.
President's Student Aid
The President's Student Aid Program is an 海角社区 funded work study program awarded with certain freshman merit-based scholarships that offers students an opportunity to earn money while in school.
Students can earn up to approximately $1,550 for fall/spring as payment for their work in a student employment position. President鈥檚 Student Aid is awarded for 4 years (8 semesters) if students maintain the retention requirements including 24 credit hours earned over the academic year and a 2.0 cumulative GPA.
