海角社区 PRSSA receives six Love Purple Live Gold Awards

Baton Rouge, La.鈥 Public Relations Student Society of America (PRSSA) at 海角社区 has been awarded six Love Purple Live Gold Awards by 海角社区鈥檚 Campus Life in recognition of the organization鈥檚 positive contribution to student life at 海角社区. The awards were presented at the Love Purple Live Gold Awards ceremony in the Cotillion Ballroom of the Student Union on April 16, 2015.
PRSSA received Most Outstanding Student Organization, Most Outstanding Multicultural/Diversity Program, Most Outstanding Collaborative Program, Commitment to Community Award and two individual awards. This was the largest number of Love Purple Live Gold Awards the chapter has ever received.
鈥淭he PRSSA at 海角社区 executive board and members have put so much effort and time into making this year a successful one,鈥 said PRSSA at 海角社区 president De鈥橝ndra Roberts. 鈥淚t feels amazing to know that the hard work everyone put in did not go unnoticed. We鈥檙e looking forward to continuing to leave our mark on 海角社区鈥檚 campus.鈥
The Most Outstanding Student Organization Award is the highest honor of the Love Purple Live Gold Awards. PRSSA received this honor for its dedication to helping more than 100 members advance and grow within the public relations field. This award recognizes PRSSA for its commitment to community, diversity, professional development and more.
PRSSA at 海角社区鈥檚 diversity committee is the recipient of the Most Outstanding Multicultural/Diversity Program. The committee addressed representation of Black History Month in the media by encouraging participants to share their opinions through a Twitter chat using the hashtag #BHMPRSSA.
The Most Collaborative Program Award was presented to the chapter for its recent Diversity Mixer. This was an event hosted by the diversity committee to encourage and celebrate collaboration among various organizations across campus.
海角社区鈥檚 Dean of Students K.C. White presents the Commitment to Community Award to an organization that excels in serving the 海角社区 and Baton Rouge community. PRSSA completes two community service events per month. This year鈥檚 activities included collecting food for the Baton Rouge Area Food Bank, creating Halloween cards for children at Our Lady of the Lake Hospital, playing bingo with the residents of Southside Gardens and more.
鈥淧RSSA at 海角社区 is an energetic, innovative and collaborative group,鈥 said Rob Brown,
PRSSA鈥檚 faculty advisor. 鈥淚ndividually, each member exhibits a tremendous amount of
enthusiasm and integrity 鈥 and as a team, they simply can鈥檛 be stopped. They can do
anything! It鈥檚 been a real honor to work with them this year.鈥
In addition to the group awards, PRSSA at 海角社区 received two individual awards.
Manship School Ph.D. student Lindsay McClusky received the Graduate Student Leader of the Year award for her dedication to the chapter. 鈥淚t is an honor to receive this award, and it is particularly meaningful to me because I was nominated by the members of PRSSA,鈥 said McClusky. 鈥淚 have enjoyed working with this very bright, talented and creative group of students this year and appreciate this recognition.鈥
Newly elected 海角社区 PRSSA public relations director Darla Nguyen received the Emerging Leader Award. The current executive board nominated Nguyen for her active participation and commitment to the chapter.
PRSSA at 海角社区 received the Most Outstanding Collaborative Program Award in 2014 and the Most Outstanding Multicultural/Diversity Program in 2013.
