The Manship School鈥檚 Reilly Center for Media and Public Affairs is hosting a two-day event recapping the 2015 Louisiana governor鈥檚 election Monday, Nov. 30, and Tuesday, Dec. 1.

鈥淟ouisiana Speaks: Conversations about Election 2015鈥 begins at 5 p.m. Nov. 30, in the Journalism Building鈥檚 Holliday Forum. The panel will feature journalists and policy analysts with an eye toward understanding how media covered the issues of the 2015 governor鈥檚 race. Panelists include journalists from The New York Times, The Advocate, NOLA.com/The Times-Picayune, Gambit Weekly, The News-Star, bloggers and policy analysts. It is part of the National Community and News Literacy Roundtable Project of the American Society of News Editors and the McCormick Foundation. The conversation continues Tuesday, Dec. 1 in the Holliday Forum. At 9 a.m. there will be a panel featuring strategists for the campaigns of state Rep. John Bel Edwards, U.S. Sen. David Vitter, Public Service Commissioner Scott Angelle and Lt. Gov. Jay Dardenne. They will discuss the substance and strategy of the race for governor with journalists. At 10:45 a.m. we convene a panel on one of the major innovations in this campaign, the expanded involvement of independent political action committees, or super PACs. Journalists and super PAC strategists will discuss the political opportunities and challenges faced by super PACs. Tuesday鈥檚 panel is sponsored by the Reilly Center for Media and Public Affairs.

This two-day event is a part of a series of events the Manship School will be hosting leading up the 2016 presidential election, emphasizing the Manship School鈥檚 commitment and focus on the intersection of media and public affairs.

Students, alumni, friends of the School, media and members of the public are invited to participate.
