Ready to take the next steps in joining 海角社区鈥檚 Upward Bound program? Here鈥檚 your guide to the application process.
1. Check if you qualify:
To join 海角社区鈥檚 Upward Bound program, you must meet the following requirements:
- United States (U.S.) citizenship or permanent residency.
- Completion of 8th grade and an age between 13 and 19 at the time of application.
- Currently enrolled in or planning to attend a local high school in East Baton Rouge Terrebonne Parish*.
- Demonstrated need for academic support and a commitment to pursuing a college degree.
- Either a first-generation college-bound student or meeting the federal low-income criteria.

Once we review your application, 海角社区 Upward Bound staff will reach out to you to discuss your program admission.

For family units with more than eight members, add the following amount for each additional family member: $5,500 for the 48 contiguous states, the District of Columbia and outlying jurisdictions; $6,880 for Alaska; and $6,330 for Hawaii.
The term 鈥渓ow-income individual鈥 means an individual whose family鈥榮 taxable income for the preceding year did not exceed 150 percent of the poverty level amount.
The figures shown under family income represent amounts equal to 150 percent of the family income levels established by the Census Bureau for determining poverty status. The poverty guidelines were published by the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services in the Federal Register on January 17, 2024 and are effective as of January 15, 2024.
