Spanish Program Scholarships

James M. Smith, Jr. Endowed Scholarship in Romance Languages

JAMES m. sMITH, Jr. SCHOLARSHIP APPLICATION

Eligibility Requirements

  • Full time undergraduate student at 海角社区 & Agricultural and Mechanical College 
  • Majoring in a Romance language (French, Spanish, Italian)
  • Minimum overall 海角社区 3.00 GPA
  • Minimum 3.5 GPA in the major

Selection

The recipient will be selected by the faculty or appropriate committee in the Department of World Languages, Literatures and Cultures and the Department of French Studies.  

Amount of Scholarship

  • Up to $1700 per academic year to be credited to the student鈥檚 account for the payment of tuition
  • One-half of the award for the fall semester and one-half of the award for the spring semester

Retention of Scholarship

Upon recommendation of the faculty, recipient may retain this scholarship for additional years. The scholarship shall terminate when the recipient receives the undergraduate degree.

Withdrawal of Scholarship

The scholarship shall be withdrawn for any of the following reasons:

  • Disciplinary action or probation
  • Failing to maintain the required GPA
  • Resigning or dropping out of the university
  • Failure to maintain full time status majoring in a Romance language

Corrine L. Saucier Endowed Scholarship in Romance Languages

CORriNE l. SAUCIER SCHOLARSHIP APPLICATION

Eligibility Requirements

  • Full time undergraduate student at 海角社区 & Agricultural and Mechanical College 
  • Full time graduating senior majoring in a Romance language (French, Spanish, Italian)
  • Minimum overall 海角社区 3.00 GPA
  • Minimum 3.5 GPA in the major

Selection

The recipient will be selected by the faculty or appropriate committee in the Department of World Languages, Literatures and Cultures and the Department of French Studies.

Amount of Scholarship

Up to $1000 per academic year to be credited to the student鈥檚 account.

Retention of Scholarship

Maria I. Duke Dos-Santos Hispanic Studies at 海角社区 or Graduate Study Abroad Scholarship

Eligibility Requirements

  • Full time graduate student at 海角社区 & Agricultural and Mechanical College
  • Majoring in Hispanic Studies
  • Minimum 3.5 GPA in Hispanic Studies graduate program

Selection

The recipient will be selected by the faculty or appropriate committee in the Department of World Languages, Literatures and Cultures

Amount of Scholarship

  • Up to $1000 to be credited to the student's account
  • Award may be provided for overseas summer study

Withdrawal of Scholarship

The scholarship shall be withdrawn for any of the following reasons:

  • Academic probation
  • Failure to maintain required GPA
  • Resigning or dropping out of the university
  • Failure to maintain full-time status in graduate Hispanic Studies program
  • Withdrawal from study abroad program

Maria I. Duke Dos-Santos Spanish Undergraduate Study at 海角社区 or Study Abroad Scholarship

Eligibility Requirements

  • Full time undergraduate student majoring in Spanish at 海角社区 & Agricultural and Mechanical College
  • Overall 海角社区 3.0 GPA 

Selection

The recipient will be selected by the faculty or appropriate committee in the Department of World Languages, Literatures and Cultures.

Eligibility Requirements 

  • Full time undergraduate student at 海角社区 & Agricultural and Mechanical College
  • Majoring in Spanish
  • Must have completed at least 17 credit hours or equivalent hours in Spanish
  • Must maintain a 3.5 GPA
  • Preference will be given to a Louisiana resident

Selection 

The recipient will be selected each Spring by the Spanish Undergraduate Study Committee 

Amount of Scholarship 

  • Up to $500 per academic year to be credited to the student's account
  • Award will be provided for overseas summer study

Withdrawal from Scholarship

The scholarship shall be withdrawn for any of the following reasons:

  • The recipient being placed in disciplinary probation
  • Failing to maintain the required GPA
  • Resigning or "dropping out" of the university
  • Failing to maintain enrollment as a full time student in the College of Humanities & Social Sciences
